Handmade pots for domestic and decorational use
The Coiled Pot.
All pots on this page are made by coiling with the exception of the Jug,
which was made on the potters wheel.
The three pots on the right made with different bands of
coloured porcelain. Pots made with this effect are commonly called agate ware and in the past were usually made on the potters wheel to gain a spiral effect, but more varied surfaces can be obtained by coiling instead.
The two pots below are made with a coarse stoneware clay and finished with a mixture of glazes and fired to between 1,220-1,280 o/c in an electric kiln.
